California governor declares state of emergency over massive wildfire
California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles County on Sunday as a massive wildfire continues to burn in the northern part of the state.
Brown called for the mandatory evacuation of residents in the area, citing threats to homes and infrastructure posed by the La Tuna fire.
The fire, which began Friday, has burned nearly 6,000 acres and spread from the Verdugo Mountains near Los Angeles down to by Burbank, CNN reported.

Brown directed state personnel, equipment and facilities to be used to combat the fire.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti also signed a declaration of local emergency Saturday as the largest fire ever seen in the region continued to burn.
“The La Tuna Canyon Fire is an emergency that requires all available resources to protect our residents and keep our homes and other structures out of harm’s way,” Garcetti said in a statement according to CNN.
