Trump voter fraud commission head: DACA recipients should ‘go home and get in line’

The head of President Trump’s voter fraud commission is advising recipients of the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to “go home and get in line” for legal re-entry to the U.S.

“Come into the United States legally, then get a greencard, then become a citizen,” Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach (R) said on MSNBC on Tuesday.

“Do it the right way, like so many hundreds of thousands of your countrymen are trying to do.”

Kobach has built a reputation as an illegal immigration hardliner and a fierce opponent of DACA.

His comments came hours after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the Trump administration would phase out DACA, which grants young people brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents temporary reprieve from deportation.

The program is set to be phased out in six months to give Congress an opportunity to take action on the matter.

Those currently enrolled in the program will not have their DACA status immediately revoked after the six-month phaseout, but will maintain the program’s protection for the remainder of their two-year enrollments.
