Bannon to give post-White House speech in Hong Kong
President Trump’s former chief strategist Stephen Bannon will address investors at an event put on by one of the largest Chinese government-owned brokerages, according to a report from Bloomberg.
The talk is being put on by CLSA, which is an overseas branch of Citic Securities Co. in Hong Kong, and will reportedly focus on “American economic nationalism, the populist revolt and Asia.”
The event marks the Breitbart’s chairman’s “first company-sponsored appearance” since departing the White House last month, according to the report.
Bannon was one of the strongest voices behind Trump’s economic populist campaign rhetoric, in which he repeatedly threatened China for its trade relationship with the U.S.
“We’re at economic war with China,” he told The American Prospect last month, days before he left his government post.
“It’s in all their literature. They’re not shy about saying what they’re doing. One of us is going to be a hegemon in 25 or 30 years, and it’s gonna be them if we go down this path. On Korea, they’re just tapping us along. It’s just a sideshow,” he said referring to their trade practices and actions regarding North Korea.
The Trump administration has threatened to impose sanctions on countries that trade with North Korea, including China.
The United States is considering, in addition to other options, stopping all trade with any country doing business with North Korea.

Bannon left the White House last month shortly after Gen. John Kelly took on the role of chief of staff.
He returned to Breitbart as executive chairman shortly after his White House departure was announced and has vowed to advance Trump’s agenda from the outside.
“If there’s any confusion out there, let me clear it up: I’m leaving the White House and going to war for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media and in corporate America,” Bannon said last month.
