Christie: Bannon is in his ‘last 15 minutes of fame’

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) blasted former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon in a Monday interview, saying “no one is really going to care” about what he says since leaving the White House.

Appearing on PBS’s “Newshour,” Christie said he thinks Bannon is currently in “his last 15 minutes of fame” after the Breitbart News chief gave an extensive interview to CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

“Now that he’s been fired, no one’s going to really care about anything else Steve Bannon has to say,” Christie said.

{mosads}During his “60 Minutes” interview on Sunday, Bannon suggested President Trump’s firing of former FBI Director James Comey was the biggest mistake in “modern political history.”

Bannon also attacked Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), saying they were “trying to nullify the 2016 election.”

“They do not want Donald Trump’s populist, economic nationalist agenda to be implemented,” Bannon said. “It’s very obvious.” 

The former chief strategist also said that Christie wasn’t considered for a Cabinet position in Trump’s administration because he didn’t offer strong enough support for Trump after the release of the infamous 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape.

“I told him the plane leaves at 11 o’clock in the morning. If you make the plane, you make the team,” Bannon said. “He didn’t make the plane.”

Christie’s chief campaign strategist Mike DuHaime fired back, saying Bannon’s claim was “simply not true.”
