Poll: Bush, Cheney more popular out of office

George W. Bush’s and Dick Cheney’s approval ratings have received a bump since the duo left office, a new CNN poll finds.

41% of respondents have a favorable impression of the former president, up from 33% in February and 35% in January.

Dick Cheney’s approval rating is 37%, an 8% bump since February. While Cheney’s approval rating is far below that of President Obama and Colin Powell (for whom the poll finds 70% support), Cheney seems to have burnished his image with his recent media appearances.

Finally, the poll found no clear frontrunner for the 2012 GOP nomination. Support from registered Republicans was evenly split between Mike Huckabee (22%), Sarah Palin (21%) and Mitt Romney (21%). Newt Gingrich came in fourth at 13%, followed by Jeb Bush (6%).

The margin of error for the poll is +/- 3%.
