Millennials give Trump low marks in new poll

Millennials strongly disapprove of the job President Trump is doing after nine months in office, according to a new NBC News/GenForward poll. 

Sixty-four percent of millennials polled said they disapprove of Trump’s job as president, while only 21 percent approve of the president’s job performance. 

Millennials also voiced their dissatisfaction with the Republican Party, with 26 percent of them saying they approve of the GOP, and 58 percent saying they disapprove. 

{mosads}While millennials appear to have a better view of the Democratic Party, they are still critical, with 43 percent saying they have a favorable view of Democrats and 42 percent saying they have an unfavorable view. 

The poll comes as Democrats look to take back the House and the Senate in 2018 amid Trump’s tumultuous presidency. 

However, millennials do not appear to know how they will vote in 2018, with 41 percent saying they are unsure whether they will vote Republican or Democrat in the midterm elections. 

Thirty-seven percent of millennials polled said they would vote with Democrats, while 21 percent said they would vote Republican.

The poll comes after Trump and Senate Republicans appear to have failed to fulfill their major campaign promises of repealing and replacing ObamaCare. 

The latest failure highlights the fact that the president has yet to achieve a major legislative victory.

The president has also stirred controversy during his time in office, most recently calling for NFL players who take the knee during football games to be fired. 

The NBC News/GenForward poll was conducted from Aug. 31 to Sept. 16 among a sample of 1,816 18- to 34-year-olds. The overall margin of error is 3.8 percentage points.
