Ken Starr praises Mueller’s Trump-Russia probe

Ken Starr, the former independent counsel in the Whitewater and Monica Lewinsky scandals during the Clinton administration, praised special counsel Robert Mueller on Wednesday, calling his handling of the Russia probe aggressive and professional. 

“We’re not seeing ‘leaks’ out of the investigation as far as we know, and what we know of Bob Mueller and his background is that he is someone of total, rock-ribbed integrity,” Starr told CNN’s Chris Cuomo on “New Day.”

The former judge cited the raid of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort’s Northern Virginia home in July, calling it “an aggressive move” on Mueller’s part.

{mosads}Prosecutors from Mueller’s team reportedly told Manafort to expect an indictment when they raided his home with FBI agents.

“Everything I’ve seen is he’s moving very aggressively and professionally,” Starr continued. 

His comments come as Mueller’s investigation into possible ties between President Trump’s campaign and Russian election meddling moves closer to the White House. 

Mueller has reportedly begun interviewing White House officials as part of the probe. 

CNN reported on Thursday that Mueller’s investigative team met with former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele, who authored the controversial, unverified dossier on alleged ties between Trump and Russia earlier this summer.
