Ryan mocks WH for being full of ‘NY liberals’ and ‘Wall Street CEOs’

Speaker Paul Ryan took several jabs at President Trump at a Thursday night charity dinner.

Addressing the guests, he teased Trump’s advisers for their behavior around the president.

“Enough with the applause,” Ryan said to the audience. “You sound like the Cabinet when Donald Trump walks into the room.”

The Al Smith dinner, which takes place annually in New York, is a white tie fundraiser for Catholic charities where presidential candidates typically roast each other.

At last year’s dinner, then-candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton exchanged similar jokes, but the event became tense when Trump was booed for comments about Clinton that were less light-hearted.

{mosads}Ryan’s bit took aim at Trump’s anti-establishment political mindset, his business background and picks for White House officials.

“I don’t think I’ve seen this many New York liberals, this many Wall Street CEOs, in one room since my last visit to the White House,” Ryan said.

Ryan also joked about the president’s use of Twitter, his tense relationship with members of Congress and the Russian interference in the 2016 election.
