Dem senator: ‘I miss every one of’ our last 5 presidents
A Democratic senator said Saturday that seeing five former presidents attend a hurricane relief benefit made him long for their leadership – even the Republicans.
Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) reacted to a photo of former Presidents Jimmy Carter, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama on Twitter, captioning the photo, “I know this will irritate my liberal friends, and fair enough, but man I miss every one of these guys.”

The five former leaders met onstage at Texas A&M’s Reed Arena Saturday night for the benefit concert, which was organized to provide donations and aid to victims of several major hurricanes including Hurricane Harvey, which struck Texas and Louisiana in September.
{mosads}President Trump did not attend the event, but sent a video message to be played at the concert, thanking the former presidents for their efforts.
“This wonderful effort reminds us that we truly are one nation under God, all unified by our values and our devotion to one another,” Trump said in the video first reported by the Washington Examiner.
“I also want to thank every person, including everyone here tonight, who has contributed to this vital effort,” Trump adds in the video.
The joint effort has raised $31 million for disaster relief, according to an announcement made before the concert.
