Bike racks coming to Capitol Hill

The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) announced the installation of bike racks along the East Front of the Capitol on Tuesday in anticipation of an increase in bicycle-riding staffers and tourists this Spring and Summer.

“As stewards of the Capitol complex, we work to accommodate everyone, and to make their visitor experience at the U.S. Capitol a very enjoyable one,” said Stephen T. Ayers, Acting-Architect of the Capitol.

“That includes providing the appropriate racks for those who prefer to ride their bikes when visiting the Capitol.”

The racks, located near the entrance to the new Capitol Visitor Center along First Street, are set to hold 40 bikes. Bike racks already exist along the West Front of the Capitol, between the Russell and Dirksen Senate Office Buildings, and by each of the House Office Buildings.
