British Ambassador Nigel Sheinwald gave a splashy welcome to President-elect Barack Obama at an afternoon reception held at the embassy.
For much of the party he shook hands and posed for pictures in the greeting line. When he finally got a chance to speak to the crowd, he gave a warm welcome to Obama and mentioned noteworthy facts about this day in history.
