Brady confirms GOP tax bill delayed until Thursday
House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-Texas) confirmed Tuesday that his party will release its much-anticipated tax reform plan on Thursday, a day later than originally planned.
“In consultation with President Trump and our leadership team, we have decided to release the bill text on Thursday,” Brady said in a statement Tuesday.
{mosads}“We are pleased with the progress we are making and we remain on schedule to take action and approve a bill at our Committee beginning next week.”
Following a meeting Tuesday evening with House Ways and Means Committee members, Brady had initially seemed reluctant to confirm the delay, telling reporters there was “no announcement of change in the schedule.”
Republicans have struggled to reach a consensus on key details of the bill, including on changes to 401(k) plans and state and local tax deductions.
