Obama Snubs NYT by Sitting for Wash. Post Interview

President-elect Obama has broken with the long tradition of granting an extensive inaugural interview to the New York Times, opting instead for the rival Washington Post.

According to a pool report–written by Times reporter Helene Cooper–Obama is currently at the Post’s downtown Washington headquarters, arriving just before 2 p.m. from his transition headquarters.

The move may be seen as a snub to the Times, which had hoped–if not expected–a similar interview with Obama surrounding the historic inauguration.

The Times’s Cooper described the Post as a “Soviet-style building,” and said, as pooler, she “will exercise enormous restraint by ending report before saying what really thinks about this turn of events.”
