Church shooting is deadliest mass shooting in Texas history
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said Sunday’s mass shooting at a church in Sutherland Springs was the deadliest mass shooting in the state’s history.
At least 26 people were killed when a gunman opened fire at the church, Abbot said at a press conference.
{mosads}”We are dealing with the largest mass shooting in our state’s history,” the governor said.
The shooting comes a little more than a month after the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Fifty-eight people were killed and more than 500 others injured in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
This is the most recent mass shooting to take place in Texas. Last July a sniper opened fire in Dallas, killing five police officers and wounding 11 other people, including nine officers.
The shooting at Pulse nightclub in Florida in June 2016 was considered the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history until the Las Vegas shooting last month.
