Obama reports for jury duty
Former President Obama arrived at downtown Chicago’s Daley Center to report for jury duty on Wednesday.
The former president, with Secret Service in tow, can be seen in a video posted to Twitter greeting and shaking hands with individuals gathered in the civic center.
“How’s everybody doing? Nice to see you,” Obama says as he walks through the building.
“Thanks everybody, for serving on the jury,” he continues. “Or at least being willing to.”

Obama left his home in the South Side of Chicago around 9:30 a.m. and arrived for duty around 10 a.m., according to The Chicago Tribune. Chief Judge Timothy Evans told the paper that Obama was dismissed shortly after 12 p.m. and was not selected to serve on a jury.
The Obama family currently resides in Washington, though the former first couple owns a house in Chicago’s Kenwood neighborhood.
{mosads}Evans said last month the former president would be attending jury duty, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
Obama would be paid the standard $17.20 a day for his jury service, the Tribune reported.
In 2015, former President George W. Bush reported for jury duty in Dallas, but was not selected.
