Dem rep renews feud with John Kelly: He ‘owes the nation an apology’
Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) on Saturday renewed her feud with White House chief of staff John Kelly, calling for Kelly to apologize for falsely claiming in October that she took credit for securing funding for an FBI office in Florida.
Wilson tweeted Saturday that Kelly had lied about her, and owed the nation an apology.
“General Kelly owes the nation an apology. When he lied about me, he lied to the American public,” Wilson wrote.

Wilson demanded an apology from Kelly last month after he slammed the Democratic congresswoman during a White House press briefing.

Kelly said he was “stunned” that a member of Congress “would have listened in” on a call between President Trump and the widow of a slain U.S. soldier. Kelly also asserted that Wilson claimed in a 2015 speech to have been “instrumental” in securing funding for an FBI office building in Miami.
“A congresswoman stood up, and in a long tradition of empty barrels making the most noise, stood up there in all of that and talked about how she was instrumental in getting the funding for that building,” he said.
Video published by the Florida Sun Sentinel showed that Kelly had misrepresented Kelly’s remarks when he accused Wilson of taking credit for the funding.
“Not only does he owe me an apology, but he owes an apology to the American people,” Wilson said last month, calling Kelly a “puppet of the president.”
