Hannity after Time refutes Trump’s ‘Person of the Year’ claim: ‘I call total bulls—‘

Fox News host Sean Hannity is calling “bullshit” on Time magazine’s claim that it never commented about giving President Trump its “Person of the Year” distinction for 2017.

Hannity took to Twitter hours after Time denied that it had called the president to say that he “probably” would be named “Person of the Year” for the magazine’s latest award issue.

“I call total Bullshit on Time. Answer the question; did you or did you not call the WH and say @realDonaldTrump @POTUS was being considered for person of the year and ask for an interview?” Hannity tweeted Friday.

Hannity, a top ally of Trump, weighed in on the pushback from Time after the president tweeted to say that he turned down the magazine’s offer after they said he would “probably” be named “Person of the Year,” saying that “probably” was not good enough.

“Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named ‘Man (Person) of the Year,’ like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!” Trump tweeted.

The magazine swiftly responded, denying that it had called the president to tell him he would “probably” receive the award.

“The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6,” the magazine tweeted.

Trump was previously named “Person of the Year” in 2016. At the time, he called the magazine’s distinction a “great honor.”

“It’s a great honor. It means a lot,” Trump said at the time. “To be on the cover of Time magazine as the person of the year is a tremendous honor.”

In 2016’s edition, Time managing editor Nancy Gibbs said that, regardless of how readers feel about Trump, most Americans had an opinion on the then-president-elect.

“For those who believe this is all for the better, Trump’s victory represents a long-overdue rebuke to an entrenched and arrogant governing class,” she said.
