Republican poll finds bad marks for the GOP
A recent internal Republican poll found that Democrats are widely favored over Republicans on issues facing the country.
The Associated Press obtained the poll, which was conducted in late March. The poll found the following:
- On education, respondents favored Democrats over Republicans by a 61 percent to 29 percent margin.
- On healthcare, Democrats enjoy a 59 percent to 30 percent advantage.
- On energy, Democrats are again preferred by a 59 percent to 31 percent margin.
The AP’s David Espo writes that Democrats were also favored on taxes, long a Republican owned issue. The two parties were viewed equally on the war on terror.
