Trump Jr.: Journalists ‘couldn’t care less about the truth’

Donald Trump Jr. ripped journalists on Sunday after a week that saw several mistakes from prominent new outlets, saying journalists could care less about seeking the truth.

“If they were really trying to get to the truth you would think they would reach out to the other side before running with it. They all have my number… they couldn’t care less about the truth,” the president’s son tweeted.

Trump Jr. was specifically responding to a segment on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” in which David Frum, a senior editor at The Atlantic, said mistakes are the reason why people should trust the media.

“I would say mistakes are precisely the reason the people should trust the media. Look, astronomers make mistakes all the time because science is a process of discovery of truth. Astrologers never make mistakes — or at least never own up to them — because what they are offering is a closed system of ideology and propaganda,” Frum said.

Frum’s comment comes after ABC and CNN found themselves facing the ire of President Trump after they issued corrections to highly sensitive stories.

Dave Weigel of The Washington Post became the target of Trump’s anger on Saturday. The president in a tweet called for the publication to fire Weigel after the journalist apologized for posting a misleading photo of a mostly empty arena taken ahead of a Trump rally in Florida.
