White House egg roll kicks off
The First Family addressed the crowd gathered at the White House for the annual Easter Egg Roll this morning.
“This is one of the greatest White House traditions because it reminds us that this is the people’s house,” the President said. “And to see so many children out here having a great time just fills Michelle and myself and the entire family with a whole lot of joy.”
The First Lady reminded the kids to take advantage of the exercise opportunities at the event, the theme of which is “Let’s Go Play.”
“Our goal today is just to have fun,” Mrs. Obama said. “We want to focus on activity, healthy eating. We’ve got yoga, we’ve got dancing, we’ve got storytelling, we’ve got Easter egg decorating. Oh, we’ve got basketball…a little soccer, as well.”
Over 30,000 from 45 states will attend the event, the White House said. Coincidentally, there will also be 30,000 eggs hidden.
