Report: Jackson would raise $5 million for Blago

Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-Ill.) was ready to raise $5 million in campaign contributions for former Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D-Ill.) if the governor appointed Jackson to the Senate, the Chicago Sun-Times reports today.

Raghuveer Nayak, a Jackson fundraiser, approached Robert Blagojevich, the governor’s brother, at an October 31 event and informed him of the offer:

At some point, signals were crossed in communicating the dollar amounts, though, leaving Rod Blagojevich to believe, according to the criminal complaint against him, that he would be paid $1.5 million should he appoint Jackson to fill Obama
