Jeanine Pirro on Mar-a-Lago: ‘Sure ain’t no s—hole’

Hundreds of supporters of President Trump gathered at his Mar-a-Lago estate Thursday night to celebrate his first year in office.

BuzzFeed News attended the “Red, White, and Blue Celebration” at Trump’s Florida property, an event hosted by the leaders of the “Trumpettes,” a group of wealthy socialites who drummed up support for Trump from female voters during the 2016 campaign.

{mosads}Among the speakers at the event was Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a major supporter and surrogate for Trump, BuzzFeed reported.

“Welcome to Mar-a-Lago, a magnificent place. It sure ain’t no shithole,” Pirro said, referring to comments Trump reportedly made about Haiti, El Salvador and some African countries.

She also pushed back against claims of racism against Trump over the profane comment.

“I love Donald Trump,” she said. “He’s the least racist man I’ve ever met, but I must tell you, race has always been an issue for Donald. Donald is always in a race — in a race against time, in a race against competitors, in a race against corruption, in a race against crime and a race against terrorism.”

Trump did not attend the event, as he is not scheduled to arrive at Mar-a-Lago until Friday evening, but cardboard cutouts of him and first lady Melania Trump were present.

Toni Holt Kramer, the head of the Trumpettes and organizer of the gala, told BuzzFeed that she rejected the accusations of racism against Trump.

“Everyone knows that if it weren’t for him, there wouldn’t even be a club in Palm Beach where Jews and Muslims and people of all faiths would be welcome,” Holt Kramer said. “I said this is disgusting. It was just so offensive to me. I thought about it and decided, ‘Well I think I’m about to do an event.’ “

Eric Trump also spoke at the event, telling the crowd that they were his family’s “true friends.”

“These are the people who care. These are the people who fought. These are the people who lost friends because of their support,” he said, according to BuzzFeed.

Attendees told BuzzFeed they didn’t believe the claims of racism against Trump, with one supporter saying, “I tell you, shithole is going to be the new word.”

Trump is set to arrive at the estate on Friday as Congress appears to be headed toward a government shutdown.

He will mark the first anniversary of his inauguration with a party at Mar-a-Lago on Saturday night, where couples paid at least $100,000 for dinner and a photo op with him. Others could pay $250,000 to sit in on a roundtable with Trump.
