Trump mocks American press during press conference with Baltic leaders

President Trump during a press conference Tuesday mocked the American press, telling the president of Latvia to pick a “Baltic reporter” to ask a question.

“Pick a reporter, please,” Trump said to Latvian President Raimonds Vējonis during the press conference with leaders of Baltic nations.

“A Baltic reporter ideally. Real news, not fake news.”

Trump frequently rails against the media, accusing reporters and networks of having biased coverage against him. He also frequently refers to networks and articles as “fake news.”

Earlier Tuesday, the president went on the attack against CNN, taking aim at CNN president Jeff Zucker.

“Little Jeff Zuker, whose job is in jeopardy, is not having much fun lately,” Trump tweeted Tuesday. “They should clean up and strengthen CNN and get back to honest reporting!”

CNN fired back at Trump in a tweet.

“Once again, false. The personal political beliefs of CNN’s employees are of no interest to us,” CNN’s communications account tweeted in response to Trump while also noting the president’s misspelling of Zucker’s name.

On Monday, Trump defended Sinclair Broadcast Group after its move to require its anchors to read aloud a promotional message warning against “fake stories” in other media outlets.
