Scarborough rips Trump ‘witch hunt’ claim: Your appointees approved the raid
“Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough on Tuesday scoffed at President Trump’s claims of a “witch hunt” against him, pointing out that Trump appointed the officials who approved the raid of his lawyer’s office the day before.
A TOTAL WITCH HUNT!!!

“These are Republicans,” Scarborough said. “Most of these players that Donald Trump is attacking were appointed by Donald Trump.”
The raid was approved after a referral from the special counsel, but not as a central part of his investigation.
{mosads}It was done, Scarborough said, “not on Robert Mueller’s behalf but on the behalf of the people of New York and the people of the United States of America.”
Trump blasted the FBI on Monday, calling the raid a “disgrace” and a “pure and simple witch hunt.”
The “witches” that Trump says are coming after him are all Republicans, Scarborough said, including Mueller, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who reportedly approved the raid personally.
The MSNBC host also pointed out that U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman, whose office coordinated with the FBI on the raid, was a Trump appointee. But ABC News later reported that Berman had recused himself from the Cohen investigation.
“Republicans, but they put their country and they put their rule of law above Donald Trump, and that is something this man will never understand,” Scarborough said.
The FBI seized emails, tax documents and records related to Cohen’s $130,000 payment to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, among other subjects.
