Democratic Rep. Jared Huffman (Calif.) ripped President Trump as he announced military strikes in Syria, saying Trump is “not above using war” to distract the public from unflattering news stories.

“This breaking news is not good,” Huffman wrote Friday night. “Our Desperate POTUS wants to deflect from the deeply incriminating events of the past few days, and he’s not above using war to do it.”

{mosads}The criticism came moments after Trump announced that he had ordered “precision strikes” against Syria in response to an apparent chemical weapons attack by Syrian leader Bashar Assad.

On Friday, U.S. attorneys confirmed for the first time that Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen was under a criminal investigation.

Last week, the FBI raided Cohen’s home and office in an attempt to find documents related to Trump’s alleged affairs with adult-film star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

Former FBI Director James Comey’s book is to be released next week and excerpts dropped several bombshells about the president this week.

Comey said in an interview that Trump asked him to investigate allegations about the existence of a “pee tape.”

In his soon-to-be-released book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” Comey wrote that Trump repeatedly denied the allegations in multiple conversations with his FBI chief, and considered having them investigated and proven false.
