Sen. Burr Holds Tiny Leads Over Dems in Poll

Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.), who faces a reelection race in 2010, has small leads over two potential Democratic challengers, according to a new Research 2000/Daily Kos poll.

Burr leads Attorney General Roy Cooper 45 percent to 43 percent. Burr leads former state treasurer Richard Moore 46 percent to 40 percent. The poll’s margin of error is 4 percentage points.

Democrats showed they can win state-wide races in North Carolina in 2008. Last year, President-elect Obama won the state’s electoral votes, Sen. Kay Hagan (D) unseated Elizabeth Dole (R), Beverly Perdue captured the governor’s mansion and Cooper won reelection as attorney general.
