Nelson’s Office Teases Coburn’s After Gators’ Victory
Sen. Bill Nelson’s (D-Fla.) office went on the offensive Friday following the University of Florida’s win in college football’s national title game, hoping to force Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) to follow through on a pledge to sing at Nelson’s next constituent coffee if his University of Oklahoma Sooners lost.
Nelson had bet Coburn, who favored the losing University of Oklahoma’s Sooners, that the loser of the bet would have to sing a song at the winning Senator’s next constituent breakfast.
As a result of last nights 24-14 win for Florida, Coburn will now have to sing the Elton John classic “Rocket Man” at Nelson’s next constituent breakfast.
Nelson aide Dan McLaughlin sent out emails taunting Coburn’s office, with the tag “coming to a constituent coffee near you,” and featuring pictures and animations of the famous single.
