Warren releases 10 years of tax returns

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) this week released 10 years of her tax returns online. 

“Every year she’s been in public service, Sen. Warren has been required to disclose her income and assets annually,” Warren’s campaign said on its website announcing announcing the move Wednesday. “She’s gone a step further and released her tax returns covering her time in public service to-date.”

The page provides links to the senator’s tax returns dating from 2008 to 2017.

The decision comes a day after Warren called for legislation that would require the IRS to release tax returns for candidates running for office from the previous two years in addition to each year going forward in office.

The Associated Press noted that the senator’s 2017 returns show she and her husband reported an adjusted gross income of $913,000 last year. The returns also showed that Warren and her husband paid $302,000 in taxes last year and were eligible for a roughly $34,000 refund.

Though seen by many as a possible contender for the 2020 residential race, Warren reiterated this week that she is focused on her Senate race in November, attempting to downplay speculation that she vie for the presidency in 2020.

The senator has long been critical of President Trump and has attacked him repeatedly for not releasing his tax returns.
