California Carr Fire now fully contained after raging for a month

The massive Carr forest fire that raged in Northern California is now fully contained over a month after it began, according to ABC’s Redding, Calif., affiliate.

The fire started on July 23 and spread at alarming rates, causing multiple communities to evacuate. The fire destroyed over a thousand homes.

{mosads}The blaze killed eight people, including three firefighters, a Pacific Gas and Electric worker and four civilians.

The Sacramento Bee reports the fire was the sixth-largest in state history, and Redding’s Record Searchlight reported the fire was started by sparks from a flat tire on a trailer. 

Nearly 230,000 acres were burned in the blaze, according to the state.
