Donna Brazile: ‘Kanye West has set us back 155 years’
Former interim Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile tweeted Thursday that Kanye West has “set us back 155 years” in response to his exuberant praise of President Trump while meeting at the White House.
Brazile expressed frustration with West, who has voiced skepticism of the 13th Amendment, which outlawed slavery, as well as told reporters in the Oval Office that “Trump is on his hero’s journey right now.”
#KanyeWest has set us back 155 years. Wish #SojournerTruth could have met him outside the White House and #FrederickDouglas inside the Oval Office.@BarackObama never would have become President with this crap.
But, let’s meet #Kayne on #ElectionDay by voting for Democrats. https://t.co/nmapsl7pK3

Brazile’s tweet was quoting a thread from NBC News’s Geoff Bennett that said inaccuracies about African-Americans and welfare in West’s comments perpetuate false, dangerous stereotypes.
Kanye West’s comments today about African Americans and welfare were as objectively false as they were dangerous in perpetuating stereotypes that position low-income blacks as the face of America’s welfare system.

{mosads}West has recently made several false historical statements.
In May, he said that slavery “sounds like a choice.”
In September, West claimed that there were only 800 slaves in the 1800s, while in reality there were closer to 4 million.
This month, he told TMZ that he was not sure if Abraham Lincoln was really black or white.
