ATF Foils Obama Assassination Plot

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has disrupted a plot by neo-Nazis to assassinate Barack Obama, the Associated Press reported Monday afternoon.

The ATF arrested two armed skinheads from Tennessee who bureau officials say intended to go on a murderous rampage at an African-American school, shooting and decapitating students. The ATF said the men would have then embarked on a national killing spree, the eventual target of which would have been Obama.

“They said that would be their last, final act–that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama,” ATF Nashville field office special agent head Jim Cavanaugh told the AP. “They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”

“They seemed determined to do it,” Cavanaugh said. “Even if they were just to try it, it would be a trail of tears around the South.”
