Michael Moore: Trump’s ‘been played’ by GM
Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore on Tuesday slammed President Trump, calling him a “fool” and saying the president had “been played” by General Motors as the company plans to cut thousands of jobs and close several U.S. factories.
Moore, appearing on MSNBC’s “All In With Chris Hayes,” said GM “played” Trump by getting corporate tax cuts last year and, ultimately, still slashing jobs.
The frequent Trump critic said that the American automotive giant “is doing what they’ve always done,” noting that the company once promised 6,000 jobs for a plant in Detroit but “never got” to that mark.
{mosads}”They never followed through on the things they promised on,” Moore said.
Earlier Tuesday, Trump blasted GM for its planned layoffs, threatening on Twitter to cut federal incentives for their electric cars while saying he was “very disappointed in the company.”
Moore said Trump wouldn’t have been surprised by GM’s move if he “had any sense of history” or if he “had studied anything about corporate America.”
“He should know better. He gave them a historic — all the corporations, a historic tax cut last year,” Moore said.
“He gets into office, and what does he do? He gives them a big tax cut. He eliminates federal restrictions for fuel efficiency, for air pollution. He does all the things they want him to do as their boy,” Moore added. “You’re such a fool, Trump, and you’ve been played again.”
