Cartoon reuniting George H.W. Bush with wife Barbara and daughter Robin goes viral
An editorial cartoon published by the Mississippi Clarion Ledger Friday night in honor of the late President George H.W. Bush is going viral online.
The poignant cartoon shows Bush disembarking from his TBM Avenger, the same plane he flew as a combat pilot during World War II, to reunite with his late wife, Barbara Bush, and their young daughter, Robin, who died from leukemia at the age of 3 in 1953.
{mosads}The picture was drawn by cartoonist Marshall Ramsey, who shared a photo of the artwork on Twitter early Saturday morning that has since gone viral.
“Godspeed President Bush,” Ramsey said in the tweet, which has since garnered over 10,000 reactions as of Saturday afternoon.
Godspeed President Bush. This is the bookend to the Barbara Bush cartoon from April. My thoughts are with the Bush family tonight. On a personal note, he was the first president I drew as a cartoonist (I began my career in 1988.) @JennaBushHager #presidentBush #rip #georgehwbush pic.twitter.com/lnBXCHgCnw

Ramsey, who also published another cartoon of the former first lady being welcomed by her young daughter at heaven’s gates after her death earlier this year, added that he considers the new cartoon “the bookend to the Barbara Bush cartoon from April.”
Bush’s family announced the death of the former president in a statement released by his son, former President George W. Bush, on Friday. The cause of death has not yet been released.
He was 94 years old.
