Donald Trump Jr. took aim at Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Instagram in a post Thursday suggesting democratic socialist policies the incoming congresswoman espouses would lead to Americans eating dogs.
{mosads}In a two-panel image shared by the president’s eldest son, Ocasio-Cortez’s face appears over text questioning why President Trump is “so afraid of a socialist economy.”
“Because Americans want to walk their dogs, not eat them,” answers text below an image of the president.
“It’s funny cuz it’s true!!!” Trump Jr. added in a caption.
Ocasio-Cortez, who shocked many in Washington earlier this year with her primary defeat of Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.), has become a top target of conservative pundits and allies of the president who have battled the 28-year-old frequently on social media.
On Sunday, the freshman Democrat questioned why so many top Republicans were aiming their criticism at an incoming freshman lawmaker rather than towards Democratic Party leaders.
“I’m not even sworn in yet. Don’t y’all have jobs to do?” she tweeted.
Trump Jr., who took up management of the Trump Organization following his father’s election to the White House, has also become a top campaigner for GOP candidates and causes in recent months, touring the country and appearing alongside GOP politicians in numerous states ahead of November’s midterms.
