Trump Winery petitions to hire more foreign workers

The Trump Winery in Virginia is attempting to hire six more foreign guest workers, according to a petition filed with the Department of Labor Thursday.

The winery, officially called Trump Vineyard Estates LLC, is officially owned by President Trump’s son Eric Trump.

The winery is seeking to hire the workers under the federal H-2A visa program, hoping to add to the 23 foreign guest workers it sought to hire in January.

{mosads}Located near Charlottesville, the winery would pay the workers $11.46 an hour, according to the filing. The seasonal work is slated to start in February and could last through July.

The job title in the posting is for vineyard farmworkers, though the posting did not describe working conditions.

Eric Trump has owned the winery since 2012, when his father gave it to him.

Since taking office and on the campaign trail, President Trump has bemoaned the loss of American jobs to immigrants and workers overseas, promising to create millions of jobs for U.S. workers as part of his “America First” platform.
