Megyn Kelly on Mika Brzezinski’s comment controversy: ‘I hope she’s forgiven’

Megyn Kelly, who was pushed out at NBC after making controversial comments on her show in October, said she hopes Mika Brzezinski is forgiven for comments she made this week that many slammed as homophobic. 

“I heard she apologized. I didn’t see the apology. I hope she’s forgiven,” she said in a video obtained by the Daily Mail.

{mosads}Brzezinski faced widespread backlash for a comment she made Wednesday when discussing remarks by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about the death of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Pompeo said Saudi Arabia is still “an important ally.”

“I understand that Donald Trump doesn’t care … But why doesn’t Mike Pompeo care right now?” Brzezinski asked on air during an interview with Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). “Are the pathetic deflections that we just heard when he appeared on ‘Fox & Friends,’ is that a patriot speaking, or a wannabe dictator’s butt-boy? I’m dead serious. I’m asking, are these the words of a patriot?”

She later apologized, saying it was a “SUPER BAD choice of words.”

Kelly was dismissed from NBC shortly after saying in October that wearing blackface was “ok” during Halloween when she was a child. She apologized for the comment but exited the show days later.

President Trump weighed in on the controversy on Thursday, slamming Brzezinski for her use of the term and suggesting bias in treatment of television hosts without providing examples.

“If it was a Conservative that said what ‘crazed’ Mika Brzezinski stated on her show yesterday, using a certain horrible term, that person would be banned permanently from television,” he tweeted. “She will probably be given a pass, despite their terrible ratings.”
