Bloomingdale’s apologizes for ‘Fake News’ shirt

Bloomingdale’s is reportedly removing a T-shirt with the words “Fake News” displayed on it after a reporter from New York posted a photo on Twitter.

Reporter Allison Kaden of Television station WPIX posted the image on Twitter Sunday tagging Bloomingdale’s and questioning the department store’s decision to sell the shirt with the phrase popularized by President Trump.

Bloomingdale’s responded to Kaden’s post Monday morning, apologizing and saying it would be “working quickly” to remove the shirt.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we apologize for any offense we may have caused. We take this feedback very seriously and are working quickly to remove this t-shirt. Again, thank you for taking the time to alert us.

The picture was taken of a display mannequin wearing the shirt at a Bloomingdale’s in White Plains, N.Y.

“It was recently brought to our attention that we were offering a t-shirt in a few of our stores that was offensive to some,” a Bloomingdale’s spokesman said in a statement to The Hill. “We appreciate this feedback and take it very seriously. The item was immediately removed from our selling floor and we apologize to anyone who found this t-shirt distressing.”
