Dating app announces data breach on Valentine’s Day

Popular dating app Coffee Meets Bagel on Valentine’s Day announced that it had experienced a data breach.

The app sent a note to users saying that on Monday it discovered that “an unauthorized party gained access to a partial list of user details.”

The company said that only names and email addresses were involved and that it does not store financial information or passwords.

{mosads}Coffee Meets Bagel said it is undergoing a review of its systems, auditing its vendors and coordinating with law enforcement, it told users.

It cautioned them about “unsolicited communications” that ask for personal information.

The dating app offers users a limited number of matches and says it is more about friendships and dates than “casual hook-ups” compared to dating apps such as Tinder.
