Here’s how candidates are prepping for debate night
NBC News, host of the third 2024 GOP primary debate, asked the five qualifying candidates several questions about how they prep for the big stage.
Here are the answers of the candidates: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.), former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
What’s on the menu for debate night?
Ramaswamy answered “enchiladas” when asked about his pre- and post-debate meals.
Haley said her meal “usually has french fries in it.”
Scott said, “If I had my choice, I would have a McDonald’s Big Mac and french fries, but I typically have salmon and some asparagus.”
DeSantis said, “Pre-debate, you don’t want to do anything to upset the apple cart.” For after the debate, he said, “We’ll let it rip.”
Christie said, “If I’m picking the restaurant after the debate, that’s bad.”
What’s on your debate night playlist?
Scott: “Gosh, you know it’s probably old school … ‘Burn rubber.'”
Haley: “For the first debate, my song was ‘Under Pressure’ by Queen. My second debate, it was Joan Jett’s ‘I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.’”
Christie: “I used to listen to Usher pre-debate. But that seems to have gotten dated now, and my kids make fun of me for that, so I don’t listen to Usher anymore. My default is always to listen to Bruce, but I need something a little bit different, and I think Bruce will understand.”
