German court declares man unfit to carry a gun after his dog shot him
A top German court refused this week to reinstate a man’s firearms license after he was inadvertently shot by his own dog.
The man, whose identity was not released, was appealing a decision by Bavarian authorities to withdraw his license.
{mosads}The avid hunter’s firearms license was revoked after he was accidentally shot in the arm when his dog released the trigger on a loaded rifle, which was in the man’s car.
The Munich administrative court dismissed his appeal on Tuesday, according to the AP.
Citing the incident with the dog, the court said that “it must be assumed that [the hunter] will handle firearms and ammunition carelessly in future as well.”
The man can appeal the court’s decision if he wishes, according to the AP.
