Nike sells out of Kaepernick jersey just hours after its release

Nike sold out of its limited edition football jerseys for former San Francisco 49ers player Colin Kaepernick just hours after they were released on Wednesday.

The Kaepernick Icon Jersey, which retailed at $150, featured Kaepernick’s former player number, 7, on the front and back of a black jersey in white lettering.

The sportswear giant described the jersey as “a celebration of those who seek truth in their communities, and those who remain true to themselves.” The product page for the jersey says that the product is now sold out and unavailable for orders.

{mosads}Nike released the jerseys almost a week after Kaepernick’s lawyers announced the former NFL quarterback had reached a settlement with the NFL over his case alleging collusion.

Kaepernick alleged the football league colluded with team owners to freeze him out of the league for kneeling during the national anthem before games to protest police brutality and racial injustice.

Kaepernick celebrated the jerseys selling out in a post on Instagram Wednesday night.

“The Nike Kaepernick Icon Jersey is out of stock!” Kaepernick wrote. “Thank you to everyone that took the time out of their day to pick one up.”

“I am humbled and appreciate all your continued support,” he added.
