Twitter users write their own #BillBarrLetters to mock summary of Mueller report
Twitter users this week mocked Attorney General William Barr’s four-page summary of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report by writing their own “Bill Barr Letters.”
The hashtag “BillBarrLetters” took off on Thursday following a tweet from Talking Points Memo editor and publisher Josh Marshall.
Using the hashtag, Twitter users offered brief summaries of famous movies and books, while leaving out information key to the plot.
“Rose and Jack had an opportunity to swim during cruise,” reads one “Bill Barr Letter” parodying the film “Titanic.”
{mosads}The viral hashtag takes aim at Barr’s four-page summary of Mueller’s report. The attorney general told lawmakers over the weekend that Mueller, who handed over his report on Friday, did not conclude that President Trump coordinated with Russia in the 2016 presidential election.
Barr also wrote that the special counsel did not come to a conclusion on whether the president obstructed justice, and noted that Mueller said his findings do not “exonerate” Trump.
The actual report, which the Justice Department has said is over 300 pages long, has not been publicly released. Democrats have repeatedly called for the report to be made public.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) criticized Barr’s summary on Thursday, calling it “condescending.”
“No thank you, Mr. Attorney General. We do not need your interpretation. Show us the report and we can draw our own conclusions,” Pelosi said.
