Semi-naked climate protesters crash UK Parliament’s lower chamber

A group of semi-naked climate protesters crashed the British Parliament’s lower chamber Monday during votes.

Roughly a dozen people stripped in the viewing gallery over the House of Commons, where strategies for handling Britain’s planned exit from the European Union were under debate.

{mosads}Climate activism group Extinction Rebellion claimed responsibility for the protest.

“Extinction Rebellion activists strip off in House of Commons public gallery to call attention to the ‘elephant in the room’ — Climate and Ecological Crisis,” they tweeted.

The group says they work to “support and encourage a citizens uprising in the UK” to address the threat of extinction. The protesters say climate change should be a bigger issue than the country’s ongoing debate over Brexit.

Police arrested 12 of the protesters on public indecency charges, according to the Evening Standard.
