Omar supporters protesting Trump event in her home state of Minnesota

Supporters of Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar (D) are protesting President Trump during his campaign event in the state over his attacks on the freshman lawmaker.

Trump participated in a roundtable discussion in Burnsville, Minn., on Monday, just days after posting an edited video that contained images of the 9/11 terror attacks spliced with Omar’s comments on the attack, which critics have said downplayed the event.

{mosads}”CAIR [The Council on American-Islamic Relations] was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” Omar said last month, remarks that have been widely attacked on the right.

CAIR reportedly organized Monday’s protest to “focus on supporting Rep. Omar and sharing common Minnesota values.”

Omar, one of the first Muslim women to serve in Congress, said in a statement Sunday night that she has received an increase in death threats since Trump shared the video.

Omar added that the video, which has been viewed more than 10 million times as of Monday afternoon, is endangering lives beyond just hers.

Supporters of Trump were across the street from the pro-Omar protesters, holding signs reading “Omar’s gotta go” and “Muslims did 9/11,” according to CBS News.
