18-year-old female suspect dead after Columbine-related manhunt

An 18-year-old woman who allegedly flew from Miami to Colorado because she was “infatuated” with the Columbine shooting is dead, authorities said Wednesday.

Authorities had previously described the woman, Sol Pais, as “armed” and “extremely dangerous.”

The Denver FBI office confirmed in a tweet Wednesday afternoon that Pais had died. Earlier it tweeted that there was no longer a threat to the community.{mosads}

Dean Phillips, the FBI special agent in charge in Denver, said during a press conference that “she appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gun shot wound.”

The FBI official said that Pais “was in contact with gun stores” and bought a gun before being found.

She reportedly purchased a pump-action shotgun in Denver on Monday night.

Pais was accused of making “credible threats” that closed down Denver-area schools just days before the 20th anniversary of the infamous school shooting.

Authorities launched a “massive manhunt” for her, the head of the Denver FBI office said during a Tuesday news conference.

On April 20, 1999, 12 students and a teacher were killed at Columbine High School in Colorado by two students who later killed themselves.
