Pope Francis urges Christians ‘do not bury hope’
Pope Francis on Saturday urged people to “not bury hope” during an Easter vigil in St. Peter’s Basilica, according to the Associated Press.
“Do not bury hope!” Francis said, adding that “we lose heart and come to believe that death is stronger than life” when things go poorly, the AP reported.
{mosads}The pope also urged people to choose Jesus over the “glitter of wealth.”
“Sin seduces; it promises things easy and quick, prosperity and success, but leaves behind only solitude and death. Sin is looking for life among the dead, for the meaning of life in things that pass away,” he said, according to the AP.
“Why not prefer Jesus, the true light, to the glitter of wealth, career, pride and pleasure?” he added.
The pope’s remarks came after Paris’s famous Notre Dame Cathedral was engulfed last week with a massive fire that destroyed parts of the historic structure.
