NYPD officer arrested for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill ex-husband
A New York Police Department (NYPD) officer has been accused of attempting to hire a hitman to kill her ex-husband and a child.
NYPD officer Valerie Cincinelli has been arrested and held without bail, NBC News reported. She allegedly tried to convince her boyfriend to hire a hitman, prosecutors said.
A local NBC affiliate reported that the child referenced by authorities was a young teenage girl. The officer herself has two younger children, according to reports.{mosads}
In a pre-trial hearing, prosecutors tried to use Cincinelli’s facial recognition to unlock her cell phone, but it did not work. Authorities claimed that she plotted most of the alleged hit attempt through calls and texts on the phone.
Cincinelli has been placed on modified duty since 2017, connected to a separate domestic incident, a police authority told NBC New York.
The Hill has reached out to the NYPD for comment.
