George Conway mocks Trump by highlighting negative UK media coverage

Frequent Trump critic George Conway on Thursday mocked Fox News’s Sean Hannity for claiming that President Trump has “received glowing reviews” during his United Kingdom trip by sharing a thread of negative British press coverage.

Conway, a Washington lawyer who is married to White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, fired back after Trump highlighted Hannity’s claim that he was being praised by foreign media, hitting MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and CNN in a tweet.

“Um, not so much,” George Conway wrote on Twitter. “Your press coverage in the UK wasn’t all that great. Let me help you out.”

George Conway then added a list of nearly 30 tweets and articles from a variety of local media outlets and tabloids.

Trump started his three-day trip to the U.K. on a sour note after he  commented on the “nasty” comments Meghan Markle, duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry, in an interview with the British tabloid The Sun ahead of his trip.

Trump later sought to clarify the comments but they were significantly highlighted in the British press.

Conway also highlighted reports about the thousands of protesters who took to the streets of London on Tuesday.

Trump dismissed the protests surrounding his state visit as “fake news” while speaking during a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Theresa May.

“It was tremendous spirit and love,” he said of the crowds. “There was great love. It was an alliance. And I didn’t see the protesters until just a little while ago, and it was a very small group of people put in for political reasons. So it was fake news.”

“And this is just a small sample, at least of the print coverage,” George Conway wrote at the end of his thread. “Haven’t watched any TV, but haven’t heard that any US network parked Baby Trump on its set, as the Beeb did. So hard to say that the British coverage was more favorable to our Embarrassment-in-Chief.”
