Pelosi gives Trudeau chocolate and wine after losing bet over NBA finals
After losing a friendly wager over the NBA finals, Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a basket of chocolates and wine.
Pelosi presented the gifts Thursday afternoon on Capitol Hill, congratulating Trudeau and the Raptors, who were “so great that they were able to win over a great championship team, the Golden State Warriors.”{mosads}
“Now, I’m here to settle the wager,” she told reporters.

Pelosi handed Trudeau a gift basket with “products of the great state of California,” including a variety of nuts and wine.
Trudeau, while the winner of the bet, brought Raptors gifts of his own — Raptors “swag” and chocolate — for Pelosi, saying “Canadians are gracious in defeat and even more gracious in victory.”
Ahead of Game 5 in the tournament, Pelosi had bet California’s Golden State Warriors would clinch their third consecutive championship win, while Trudeau’s odds were on his home team, the Toronto Raptors — which, at the time, held zero championship titles.
When the two made the bet ahead of Game 5, the Warriors faced a 3-1 deficit in the best-of-seven series. But while the Warriors took Game 5 in an attempted comeback, Toronto edged out its opponent in Game 6 with a final score of 114-110.
Trudeau visited Pelosi on Capitol Hill on Thursday following a White House meeting with President Trump.
