Viral photo shows Elizabeth Warren doing ‘pinky promise’ with young girl
A photo going viral online showed Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D) and a young girl sharing a “pinky promise” at her recent campaign rally in Arizona earlier this week.
In the photo shared on Twitter Friday, the Democratic presidential candidate is seen crouching down to talk to the young girl.
There are a number of reasons why I love, admire and will fight for @ewarren, but a picture is worth a thousand words. #TeamWarren #Warren2020 pic.twitter.com/mM8xFx4qq1

The photo was tweeted by Garrick McFadden, an attorney from Phoenix and the father of the six-year-old, who also briefly ran for representative of Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District last year.
Warren retweeted the photo shortly after on Friday night, writing: “Whenever I meet a little girl, I say: ‘I’m running for president, because that’s what girls do,’ and we pinky promise so they’ll remember.”

McFadden told The Hill on Saturday that the photo was taken at the senator’s recent rally in Tempe after a staffer with her campaign picked his family and others out for pictures with Warren at the end of the event.
After being brought on stage, McFadden said the senator shook his hand and then crouched down and began talking to his daughter, whose name he preferred not to release for her privacy.
“Both me and my wife were just in awe to see a senator get down on her knees and ask permission to talk to [my daughter,] asked her what her name was and just like, there’s no way I could see the current president doing that with my daughter,” he said.
{mosads}“And you have a woman, one of three women, who viably ran for the presidency of the united states of America, and is humbling herself by getting on her knees to talk to my child, it was just awe-inspiring,” he continued.
As for his young daughter’s take on the moment, McFadden laughingly said that his daughter “thought it was cool that her mom and dad thought this was cool” but “I think that she was more excited with the pack of Starbursts that she got earlier.”
McFadden also said that although daughter wasn’t too excited by the idea of attending a campaign rally after his own recent bid for Congress he thought the moment was powerful for his daughter.
He also said the next person he and his wife plan to take his daughter to see speak during this election cycle is Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), which he added would also be “powerful as well” given his daughter is also biracial.
